Causality
Poem and Statement
Ceaseless, like a rushing river The flow is not disturbed Not by leaping fish nor falling stone Quickly die the ripples And in this world For every rebel, there must be a slave For every void, there must be an ember Some transcendental thread must bind them all Else there is no dimension And so the weaver weaves at sunset the crimson death of day at moonrise the pallid rebirth of dusk the infant ethereal night of an eclipse the rainbow radiant discharge of some nova distant, but visible to the one eyed man Staring up at the cover of twinkling blackness Where tiny holes of light puncture through Back and forth back and forth the weaver goes This silent numen goes to work Binding us in their tapestry Tugging at some fraying thread Maybe I might rip it
Statement
This poem was inspired by the ideas of causality, free will and determinism, and the necessity of opposites. You may recognize the banner image of this post from the anime adaptation of Kentaro Miura’s Berserk, which delves into all of these concepts.

There’s nothing I love so much as a heroic defiance of fate. You’ve articulated the age old phenomena, as well as the truth that stars are something we can change. Great work. Also, love the Berserk reference. That story of battling the forces of darkness and the fate that binds us, is perfect for the literary climate in which we find ourselves.
Haven't watched Berserk but immediately got the reference once I saw that freaky red head thing lol. My friend has a keychain of it and it always freaks me out 🤣
